Farmer to cup, in six recorded steps
How we trace every pack
Nzonzi Coffee records who handled your coffee at every stage between the farm and the bag in your hands -- 9 registered farmers, 6 collection stores and 4 hullers, all tied together under one batch code per roast. Scan the QR code on your pack, or look up the batch code by hand, to see the exact record for your bag.
Look up a batch code →Farmer
It starts with the person who grew it
Every bag is linked to the named smallholders who grew and picked the cherry -- ripe cherry only, hand-picked, no exceptions. Each farmer is registered with Nzonzi, has their own farm profile, and is paid the published daily farmer price for what they deliver.
Collection Store
Weighed, logged and paid on the spot
Farmers walk their cherry to a nearby collection store the same day it is picked. It is weighed, logged against the farmer's record, and paid for immediately at that day's published price -- the first link in the chain that a batch code can be traced back to.
Huller
Pulped, washed and dried
Cherry moves to a huller for pulping, fermentation, washing and drying, converting it into the green beans that get roasted. Which huller handled a batch, and its capacity and contact, is recorded against the batch.
Trader
Aggregated for export-scale volume
A licensed regional trader consolidates dried lots from multiple collection stores in a region, so volume is large enough to move efficiently while every lot still carries its own origin record.
Exporter
Cleared for export under a licensed name
A licensed exporter handles customs and international shipment. Their license number is recorded on the batch, so the export leg of the journey is just as auditable as the farm leg.
Roastery
Roasted in small batches, then packed
Nzonzi's own roastery roasts each batch under a named roast master and assigns it a batch code and roast date. That code is what gets printed -- and QR-coded -- on every pack that leaves the roastery.
Where the story is grown
The farming communities behind each region shape how the cherry is grown and processed, which is why the trace record starts with a named region as much as a named farmer.
